The Morning Promise
The next morning, the forest woke up soft and bright.
Tippy the rabbit and Lobo the young wolf remembered their promise.
They had seen the farm at sunset. Today, they would visit.
“There it is!” said Tippy. “The red barn!”
Lobo swished his fluffy tail. “And I hear animals saying good morning.”
Together, the two friends walked up the quiet dirt road.
Ginger at the Gate
At the farm gate, a friendly dog came trotting over.
“Woof! Hello!” she said.
The dog stopped a little way away and wagged her tail.
“My name is Ginger. Welcome to the farm.”
“I am Tippy,” said Tippy.
“And I am Lobo,” said Lobo.
Ginger smiled. “I can show you around. We will walk slowly, speak softly, and give every animal plenty of space.”
“That sounds kind,” said Tippy.
“That sounds careful,” said Lobo.
Ginger opened the gate, and the farm tour began.
Clover in the Pasture
First, Ginger led them to the green pasture.
A big brown-and-white cow stood beneath a shady tree.
“This is Clover,” said Ginger. “She likes fresh grass, cool shade, and quiet hellos.”
“Good morning, Clover,” said Tippy.
“Moo-oo,” answered Clover.
Clover took one slow step closer. Tippy and Lobo stayed still and let her choose how near to come.
“Look with your eyes,” said Ginger. “Listen with your ears. Give space with your paws.”
Clover lowered her head and began to eat.
“Crunch, crunch,” said Lobo softly.
The Barn Cat and Juniper the Goat
Next, Ginger led them into the bright red barn.
A gray-and-white goat stood calmly on soft straw beside a clean water bucket.
Farther back in the barn, a quiet cat sat watching over the stalls.
“That is Whiskers,” said Ginger. “Whiskers lives here and helps keep down the rodents that might nibble the feed.”
“The barn must stay clean and tidy,” said Lobo.
“Yes,” said Ginger. “The farmer stores food carefully, cleans the stalls, and gives every animal a safe space. Whiskers helps, too.”
“This is Juniper,” said Ginger. “Juniper gives milk, too.”
“Hello, Juniper,” said Lobo.
“Baa-a,” said Juniper with a soft bleat.
Tippy noticed a bucket of clean water and a fresh bed of straw.
“The farmer takes good care of Juniper,” he said.
“Yes,” said Ginger. “The animals need food, water, shelter, and gentle care every day.”
Juniper stood quietly on the fresh straw.
“What a clean, cozy home Juniper has,” said Tippy.
Ruby, Dot, and the Hen House
Outside the hen house, Ginger introduced them to two of the hens scratching in the warm earth.
“This is Ruby,” said Ginger. “And this is Dot.”
“Cluck, cluck!” said Ruby.
“Cluck!” said Dot.
Inside the little house were clean straw nests.
“Ruby and Dot lay eggs in their nests,” Ginger explained.
“Eggs for breakfast!” said Tippy.
“Farm-made food,” said Lobo. “The animals and the farmer help one another.”
The hens pecked gently at the ground.
Peck, peck, peck.
No one hurried them. The friends simply watched and listened.
Daisy and the Ducklings at the Pond
Then Ginger led them to a little pond.
On the water floated a mother duck and two fluffy ducklings.
“This is Daisy,” said Ginger. “And these are Pip and Poppy.”
“Quack, quack!” called Daisy.
“Peep, peep!” answered the ducklings as they splashed behind her.
Tippy and Lobo stayed on the shore while the duck family paddled.
“Ducks are helpful pond friends,” said Ginger. “They eat many insects, and they nibble some algae.”
“That must be why the pond looks so clean,” said Tippy.
“And a cleaner pond is a better place for frogs, insects, birds, and other animals to visit,” added Lobo.
Pip dipped his tiny bill into the water.
Splash!
“Every animal has a place,” said Ginger. “And sometimes an animal helps many other animals, too.”
What the Farm Makes
Near the barn, Tippy saw a small table ready for the next day.
There were baskets of fresh eggs from Ruby and Dot, there were jars of milk from Clover the cow, and milk from Juniper the goat.
There were also small rounds of cheese made from the farm’s milk.
“The farmer makes these foods here on the farm,” explained Ginger.
“Eggs, milk, and cheese,” said Tippy.
“Simple things made with care,” said Lobo.
Ginger nodded. “The farmer keeps the eggs, milk, and cheese in a cool, clean place overnight. In the morning, they will be fresh and ready for the farmers market.”
Meeting Frank
Just then, a kind voice called from the barn.
“Ginger, are your new friends enjoying the farm?”
Frank walked over with a warm smile.
“This is Tippy,” said Ginger, “and this is Lobo. They have met Clover, Juniper, Ruby, Dot, Daisy, Pip, and Poppy.”
“It is lovely to meet you. I’m Frank,” he said.
“It is lovely to meet you, too,” said Tippy.
Lobo looked at the table. “Are these the things you will take to the farmers market?”
“Yes,” said Frank. “Eggs, milk, and cheese from our farm.”
An Invitation for Tomorrow
Frank stood beside the truck and lifted the cooler lid.
“I am taking these farm-made foods to the farmers market tomorrow morning,” he said. “Would you like to come with me?”
Tippy’s ears lifted high.
“We would love to! Lobo and I are always looking for a new adventure,” he said.
Lobo’s tail swished happily.
“You may come along,” said Frank. “We will leave after the sun comes up.”
“Tomorrow will be another adventure,” said Ginger.
Tippy, Lobo, and Ginger smiled together.
Saying Goodnight to the Farm
As the sun began to set, the farm grew quiet.
Clover rested in the pasture. Juniper settled into her straw. Ruby and Dot tucked into their hen house. Daisy and her ducklings floated beside the calm pond.
Tippy looked at all the places they had visited.
“Today we learned that every animal needs care,” he said.
“And that animals can help one another in many ways,” said Lobo.
Ginger wagged her tail. “Kindness, patience, and listening make room for friendship.”
“I think we made a new friend in Ginger today,” said Tippy.
“Tomorrow we can have another adventure with Ginger and Frank,” said Lobo.
The truck waited for morning.
The three friends said their goodbyes with happy hearts, excited for the new adventure waiting for them tomorrow.
